2025: THE MONTREAL DRAGON BOAT CHALLENGE ➡️ PAN AMERICAN CLUB DRAGON BOAT CHAMPIONSHIP
The Montreal International Dragon Boat Challenge steps down in 2025 to make way for the Pan Am Club Crew Championships (PACCC), which will include international and local divisions. The Montreal International Dragon Boat Challenge returns in 2026!
The PACCC is an international competition held every two years, bringing together countries from the Americas (Canada, USA, Trinidad & Tobago, Panama, Bahamas, Brazil and Argentina). Previous editions of the PACCC have been hosted by Panama (2023), Trinidad & Tobago (2019), Puerto Rico (2017), Canada (2015) and the USA (2011).
All teams regularly participating in the Montreal Challenge are encouraged to register for the Pan American Dragon Boat Club Crew Championship
SPORTS CREWS
Teams that traditionally have registered in the Sport Division of the Montreal Challenge will be directed to register for the PACCC, which will be held under IDBF racing rules will be applied. The competition for the international division runs from July 4 to 6, with an overflow date of July 3rd in case of higher-than-expected registration.
The following IDBF racing classes will be offered at the PACCC in both IDBF spec small boat (10) and Standard boat (20)
- U18 & U24
- Premier
- Senior A-B-C-D
- PARA & BCS (survivors).
Race schedule and format International division:
- July 4: 200m.
- July 5: 500m and 2000m.
- July 6: 500m and 2000m.
*Reserve date announced March 1 if necessary.
Qualification process? Answer: NO. Teams do not need to qualify to participate in the PACCC 2025 International Division. However, all teams must belong to a club that is a member in good standing of their national federation (Example: Dragon Boat Canada) and all participants must also be affiliated with the national federation (Example: Dragon Boat Canada, annual individual affiliation). Details of the Bateau Dragon Canada affiliation process will be available shortly, and we will offer support to team captains unfamiliar with the process.

COMMUNITY CREWS
All community crews are also actively encouraged to register in the PACCC. However, for those who feel the event might be a bit too much a division for local community teams will be included in the event. The local division will resemble the traditional Challenge community division and run on July 5 and 6.
No age categories for the local PACCC division. The local division will be offered in standard boats only.

- July 5: 500m and 2000m (depending on category).
- July 6: 500m and 2000m (depending on category).
Qualification process? Answer: NO. Teams do not need to qualify to participate in the PACCC 2025 Local Division. No affiliation is required to participate in this division.
Do I have to wear a PFD? Answer: YES. All teams participating in the local division must wear a PFD (personal flotation device) during the competition.
PACCC local division race details:
Registration fee for PACCC Local Division: $1350 plus taxes per team
Registration for the PACCC 2025 local division will be via the Mission Dragon boat website and will be available from mid-March.

The event takes place at Parc Jean Drapeau on the Olympic Basin in Montreal.
Important points to know: The basin is located on Île Notre-Dame in Parc Jean Drapeau. The parking lot directly adjacent to the basin is P2.
Parking P2:
The parking fee is $25 per day including taxes. Parking fees are the entire responsibility of the Parc Jean Drapeau Society. We would like to point out that Mission Dragon Boat does not receive any rebate on the revenues generated by the parking fees. MONTREAL CHINESE CULTURE AND ART FOUNDATION
In partnership with the Montreal Chinese Culture and Art Foundation (MCCAF), the Montreal dragon-boat Challenge highlights the cultural contribution brought to dragon-boat by the Chinese culture. Over two days of competition, participants and spectators will be fully immersed in Chinese culture with many performances by artists from China and Montreal.
